The village of Reine i Lofoten is
best known for its unique and magnificent scenery, but in the summer
of 2009 this time-honoured fishing village in the fabled Lofoten
Islands became the venue for Lofoten's first international festival of
literature. For four days on end the tiny hamlet was populated by
cultural personalities from the whole of Scandinavia. Some of the
region's most famous contemporary writers had made their way to what
was once the village school, but has now been converted into Reine
Centre of Arts and Culture, to take part in the event. The festival
was a a tremendous success and there is no doubt that it will be an
annual event that many will look forward to - both participants and
audience alike.
The following authors will be taking part in 2010:
Laila Stien - Ketil Bjørnstad – Ingar Sletten Kolloen – Per Petterson
